CPV- St. Charles Energy Center is owned by Competitive Power Ventures. It is a 745 MW natural gas fueled combined cycle power plant in Waldorf, Maryland and provides reliable energy to more than 700,000 homes. It produces environmentally responsible low emissions and is cooled by recycled wastewater that would otherwise be discharged into the Potomac River.

Built under an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract, at its peak construction had 650 union labor workers onsite. It took 30 months to reach its Commercial Operation Date of March 2017 and at a cost of $775 million. It was the last major engineering project I had the privilege of working on.
