They started in 1968 featuring the production of the 747 “Queen of the Skies”. Since then, Tours have welcomed more 6 million visitors. They were suspended 3 years ago because of the pandemic. Due to popular demand, the Tours are back, featuring the 777, 777X, and the 787 Dreamliner. And by the end of 2024 a 4th line will be transferred from the Boeing Renton Factory to Everett, the production of the 737Max.

Early in my consulting engineering career I did many Boeing facilities projects. In Renton; 1000-ton Chiller system, and Air Compressor bldg. In Seattle; Autoclave and ancillary equipment/systems. And in Everett; Boilers Nos 5 and 6 at the Field Steam Plant and the replacement of utility piping systems within the factory.

Because I am a storyteller with a Boeing engineering background, I was approached to be a tour guide for the Everett factory. Being very content as a novelist/author I politely declined. But after much persistence…

Well don’t look now, but I am a Visitor Relations Specialist/Tour Guide for the Boeing Everett Factory.

Come and visit the Future of Flight in Mukilteo and take a limited tour of the world’s largest factory.

Who knows, maybe you’ll end up on one of my tours!
