I believe in the power of full circle. Yesterday, Ichiro Suzuki retired from MLB after a brilliant 19-year career where it all began; in his home country of Japan at the Tokyo Dome with a 5-4 win over the Oakland A’s.
This future first ballot HOF player was a favorite of my daughters Micaela and Kelsey. I feel Blessed that for years we were able to see him play at SAFECO Field in Seattle chanting ICHIRO-ICHIRO in unison with thousands of screaming and adoring fans. With the game on the line he would beat out a much-needed infield single with the runner scoring from third. It was like witnessing magic.
I got the same magical feeling when we saw a LIVE McCartney concert together at SAFECO.
Someday my daughters grandchildren will be amazed and impressed when their sweet old grandmothers tell them they were actually around to enjoy seeing icons Ichiro Suzuki and Paul McCartney perform in person. Wow. . .
We thank you, Ichiro. Incidentally, his Seattle Mariners rookie season debut in 2001 was a 5-4 win over the Oakland A’s.
Full circle indeed.
