“Their father’s hell did slowly go by . . .”
“Let’s see, how can I swing the election my way since my inaction has resulted in 5.4 million American’s infected with the coronavirus, over 171,000 deaths of family members, 51 million unemployed and families losing their healthcare.”
Those devastating statistics alone (his stance on social and racial injustice, immigration and the loss of worldwide respect notwithstanding) bolstered with lies and absence of integrity and decency have put him behind in the US Presidential polls. All of these devastating indicators are revealing and disgraceful, yet Trump still insists, “the only way I’ll lose this election, is if the election is rigged.”
Really?
Well, with a degree in “deception” from Trump University, he is attempting to manipulate this election process. By his own admission he is actively “undermining the United States Postal Service” by defunding. His goal is to weaken public confidence, spread fear and confusion and disrupt mail-in voting.
To this end, he appointed a questionable crony (and megadonor) with no prior experience with the Postal Service as Post Master General. His immediate reorganization of key personnel, confiscating post office letter sorting machines and removing neighborhood corner post office mailboxes is deemed as deliberate sabotage.
(Fortunately, due to public outcry and impending legal action, these unlawful practices have stopped. The US Postal Service has suspended new policies that were decried as an attempt to sabotage the 2020 election. In a sharp reversal, the Post Master General has now said that post office hours would not be cut, and post boxes and sorting machines would stop being removed. All overtime pay would continue to be approved to ensure deliveries arrive on time. The Post Master General is due to testify to a Republican-led Senate committee on Friday, and then to a Democrat-led House committee on Monday to explain his actions.)
It’s sad when a country has to protect itself from its president. But what did we expect electing a narcissist thug indifferent to public service? Does bringing hardship to 331,002,651 citizens by making it harder to receive the lifeblood of medication, Social Security checks and paychecks by mail reflect the actions of a compassionate leader? He has already left us broken and reeling, but does he really need to pile on the backs of the most vulnerable? We are already suffering from of a pandemic that he claimed “is only a hoax and would disappear.”
The silence of elected Republican enablers is deafening. They sit idly by while choosing partisan politics over public welfare making them just as liable for any disgraceful governmental disruption. Certainly not what the Founding Father’s had envisioned when framing the Senators oath of office to include “to support and defend the Constitution of the United States” and to provide constitutional checks and balances.
Shame on you Trump and US Senate Republicans. Based on your legacy of divisiveness, incompetence, cruelty and lack of a moral foundation;
You’re certainly teaching our children well.
