National Volunteer Week in the United States occurs annually in the third week of April. In 2021 it falls on April 18 – April 24. Past statistics show that per year 77.4 million Americans volunteer with 6.9 billion hours served. However, many communities had to adhere to safety measures to stop the spread of COVID-19, limiting in-person volunteer activities across the country.
Instead, with a few adaptations, organizations can still continue to recognize and engage their volunteers virtually and such is the case with Seattle’s Ronald McDonald House. We were pleasantly surprised to find this sign placed in our front yard. In the near future when the pandemic is behind us, volunteering will flourish once again, serving all people and communities in need with support, love and hope.
“Helping others reveals the best version of yourself.”
