“but I need a break, and I wanna be a paperback writer. . . paperback writer”

Most of my writing is done in a small 400 sq ft 2nd floor corner studio flat. Its southern exposure provides a beautiful sunrise and sunset filtering through a natural canopy of green from the Pacific Northwest ash and cottonwood trees. I happily share this forest with the many singing birds, scurrying squirrels, an occasional owl and thorny blackberry brambles that also call it home.

I am blessed to have such a serene place to nurture my creativity. The stress-free peaceful solitude provides a beautiful backdrop.

When evening rolls around, the serenade of the croaking frogs in the pond reminds me that it is time to close the laptop on another, hopefully productive but always satisfying day.  Now, in my twilight years I’m grateful that wherever I am, I know that my wooded studio apartment will always welcome me back.
