Each clue leads to another which takes them to various locations around the Seattle area like the Pike Place Market, the old steam plant in Georgetown, Myrtle Edwards Park, Gasworks Park, and Seattle Center among others. One of Kloe’s magical gifts is that at each location she can close her eyes and be transported to the past and conditions during the time it was inhabited by the local Duwamish tribes, over 200 years earlier, where she always receives yet another clue. But again, unknown to Kloe and Hudson, at each location they are followed by danger and a dark spirit, intent on stopping her search.

Interspersed within my novel are chapters from Johan Dufresne’s original novel ECHOES AT EHKOLA which is about forbidden love between Francois Durfresne, a mid-shipman serving on Lewis and Clarks Corps of Discover and Kamimi, the daughter of the Clatsop Indian chief taking place at the mouth of the Columbia River during the historic 1806 Lewis and Clark Expedition.

Hate and bigotry ensue and they are chased not only by the US Military but also the Clatsop Indian nation, however they are protected by the benevolent powers, according to tribal legends, of the Saghalie, the 275-foot monolith off the coast.

The story lines eventually converge in present day Cannon Beach, Oregon, the home of the illusive author Johan Dufresne and the location of Haystack Rock, the 275-foot monolith off the Oregon coast. Kloe’s missing parents, the tragic love between François and Kamimi, the heartbreak of Johan and his late wife Marguerite and the black spirit that followed Kloe and Hudson throughout their search finally come to a climactic and surprising conclusion.

Stay tuned.

Thanks-Keith
