March 8 is International Women’s Day across the globe. It is an opportunity to celebrate the hard-won achievements of women and press for change on the many challenges they still face.
It has been my privilege to see my two daughters, Micaela and Kelsey develop from sweet little girls into strong young women. I am proud to know that I had some part in raising them in a spirit of self-respect, ambition and love. Little girls with dreams become women with vision.

Today, Ukrainian women and girls are volunteering by taking up arms to defend their homeland under attack. Their numbers add to the already more than 30,000 women soldiers which is 15 per cent of the Ukrainian military forces.
