The LUAU restaurant was located on 421 N Rodeo Drive. Opened in 1936, it was a Polynesian fantasy in Beverly Hills, California. In the late 1950’s my father worked there as a waiter in the post WWII tiki culture craze. As a small kid I have many happy memories being there with my dad, it was a magical time for me. He once got a $50 tip from Sinatra. Demolished in 1979. Sometimes when I close my eyes, I can still hear the waterfall splashing over the smooth lava rocks. I see the koi dancing in the ponds and holding my dad’s hand crossing the bamboo bridge together. It’s still a magical time for me.
